Rock and River Wintersports Weekend- Keene NY Feb 7-10 

23 Club members gathered at the beautiful and secluded Rock and River Lodge which was blanketed in gorgeous billowy snow!! Missing were 3 who sadly cancelled with illnesses. Only 4 were new to the event with 2 of those having stayed there many times with their former ski club from NJ. We settled right in to the familiarity, unpacking and heading out to favorite trails. After the last 2 years of less than ideal snow conditions, we joyfully enjoyed the "out the doorstep" backcountry Jack Rabbit Trail, nearby Mt Van Hoevenberg's extensive network, Cascade Center's well groomed trails and other area destinations. During the stay, the thick new layer of powder snow overnight refreshed the already stellar conditions!

The skiing and snowshoeing and outdoor air resulted in hearty appetites to appreciate all of the scrumptious food brought by everyone! All pitched in to cook and clean-up. Yummy breakfasts- nods to Rebecca, Steve and Lori, Brenda and Don especially. And such a marvelous array of delectable selections each night! Friday evening we all gathered for soups and more with Don's expert fire blazing in the massive stone fireplace. Saturday and Sunday dinners were set in the lovely large dining area. Always, lively chatter accompanied the delicious meals. Newcomer, Maggie, led the group on Friday, joining her guitar music and singing well-loved songs from our past. A small group of devotees cheered the Philadelphia Eagles on to victory in Saturday's Super Bowl, watching in the game room as others visited or turned in early.  

Thanks go to Margie Litwin and Rebecca Harrison for assuring the success of the weekend, along with all who helped to make it another very special event. A tradition since 1993 goes on still! Next year's dates are February 6-9, 2026 and there are currently several openings. Watch the website for registration info.
