Announcing Annual SWC Picnic, 7/13/2024!

SWC is pleased to announce a picnic for members to be held at Thacher State Park on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Horseshoe 2 Pavilion.  The club will supply hamburgers, hot dogs and fixins' for the event.  Please bring a dish to share, and BYOD (bring your own drinks).  There will be lots of seating at the pavilion, but you might consider bringing lawn chairs.  We plan to eat between Noon and 1 PM.  This gathering will also be the SWC Quarterly Members meeting, agenda to follow.

Horseshoe 2 Pavilion features access to a playground, ball field, horseshoe pits,  a childrens' mini zip line, and of course nature trails (see attached Map).  You are also welcome to bring any lawn games you might like to play.  We are planning a group hike on the Long Path from the Thacher Visitor Center (830 Thacher Park Rd, Voorheesville) at 9 AM.  We are also looking for volunteers to help with e.g. setup, cleanup, activities, etc.  Please email us here if you would like to help.

Note:  There is a $6 entrance fee per car to the park.  The club will sponsor parking passes for those who are car pooling, that can be picked up the day of the picnic at the entrance closest to Horseshoe II (the old entrance gate).  We have to purchase the passes in advance, so when you sign up for the picnic, you must let us know that you are car pooling to reserve a pass.
